RECEPTION ROOM

The Thalassemia Day Care Centre (TDCC) has a nice air-conditioned reception cum welcome room at the entrance on the first floor. All basic conversation on the current physical condition and medical reports of the Thalassemic kids take place between TDCC staff and parents/kids at this area for being officially recorded. It has a comfortable sitting area which can accommodate 20 people easily. It has the facility of measuring height and weight of kids on their arrival which is recorded in kids' profile. the luggage being carried by parents are placed and preserved in a demarcated area of this room.

There placed a small temple of Jalaram Bapa with idols of other God and Goddess where lunch Prasaad is placed and Aarti is performed before the lunch is served to kids and their parents.It also has a nice conference facility for the trustees and guests who can intereact one to one and can also have the meeting with 6 to 8 people at a time.

The CCTV display monitor is also situated in this room nearby the sitting area of the trustees. the kids are given a seasonal fruit at the entrance gate of this room while they leave the centre after lunch for their BT (Blood Transfusion) at civil hospital, Asarwa, Ahmedabad

KU. RICHA BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTRE

Next to reception room, a Blood Transfusion centre has been made functional since 26th January 2019 which has 9 beds fully equipped with IV stands. Out of about 250 kids taking BT at civil hospital, 100 kids are shortlisted for the time being who can be transfused blood at the TDCC only. BT room has all basic facilities like storing medical materials and medicines in a freezer, an HB measuring Instrument/Machine, storage to store IV.... etc, an examination bed, a computer for feeding all required medical data of the kids, a printer, a TV unit for recreation of kids, a table and chairs for full-time doctor and nursing staff as well as the coordinator. The trust has entered into a four party agreements with Sankalp India Foundation, Banglore which provides all technical, medical and other BT related services and also with Prathma Blood Bank as well as Sarvoday Blood Bank which after collecting blood sample of the kids in the morning, provide blood units for transfusion at noon. All the project partners for BT to Kids are determined to increase the number of kids gradually and phase wise who can be transfused blood at TDCC only.

Remarkably this BT Centre has been inaugurated at the auspicious hands of Dr Lawrence Faulkner, a renowned Pediatric Hemato-oncologist from Italy in presence of large number of guests, donors, trustees, members, volunteers and representatives of all project partners.

DINING AND KITCHEN

TDCC has an excellent and full fledged functional kitchen with sufficient storage and a freezer. There is a head cook assisted by 2 assistants who prepare the breakfast, tea, coffee and milk in the morning which is served to kids and parents between 9 to 10 am. The Lunch containing 5 to 6 items which mostly includes a sweet and/or snack is served to all the kids and parents on all days of BT. Many of the donors and well wishers families sponsor the combo of breakfast, tea-coffee-milk, lunch and a fruit on any auspicious days like birthday, marriage day, death anniversary of any of the members in their family. On such occasion they personally come with their family, take pleasure of serving food to the kids and their parents, play with kids and then take Lunch Prasaad at the centre with Volunteers and Staff.Each of the kid is given a seasonal fruit at the time of leaving the centre.

The dining area has 4 wonderful big sitting tables with benches made of stainless steel. All utensils for taking food as well as the food serving stand which keeps the food hot and fresh is all made of SS. It also has a facility of water cooler as well as SS sink with 3 inlets for cleaning the utensils used for taking lunch which the kids and parents themselves clean up and place them on an SS stand.

A corner is demarcated for cleaning the bigger utensils used for preparing the food.

SANITATION

The centre is fully equipped with sufficient number of toilets, urinals and basins with all time water facility separately made for male and female on the 1st floor as well as 2nd floor. The sanitation area is invariably cleaned up with antiseptic liquids at least twice a day to keep them hygienic and out of germs.

LIBRARY

The TDCC on the 2md floor has a huge reading room with large number of books for the kids as well as parents which keep them busy and updated. The air-conditioned library room is equipped with sufficient number of chairs and tables to accommodate large number of kids and parents at the same time. It has a big size compartmentalized cupboard to separate the section of books.

Notably the basic library room shall now be upgraded with better facilities and infusion of variety of other books with the help of Karma Foundation, Ahmedabad.

This room is also often utilised for taking blood samples of the kids for their other periodical medical tests required to monitor their health position.

TV CUM COUNSELLING ROOM

Then comes on the 2nd floor and air-conditioned TV Cum Counselling room which contains a sitting arrangement of large number of people with SS chairs. It has a bigger size TV which continuously exhibits Cartoon Films or other entertaining/documentary films for the recreation of kids and parents. After the breakfast and sampling formalities, they get refreshed while watching TV sitting on a relaxing chair.

This room is regularly utilised just before lunch time on each BT day for counselling of the kids and parents. Various informative talks take place and they used to be guided on various issues which are concerning the core of the health of Thalassemic kids.

Whenever special guests come, they are requested to be present during counselling session and are asked to interact with the kids and parents to motivate them.

Counselling for BMT (Bone Marrow Transplantation) also take place through the expert doctors in the field frequently.

CRADLE ROOM

The smaller children are provided with a play room with full of toys and indoor games. The children below the age of 1 year are provided with cradles and mattresses in a separately demarcated room for their rest and comfort.
